MERCER, Pa. (WKBN) — A local group held an event Saturday to raise money for revitalization projects in Brandy Spring Park.
The Brandy Springs Revival Committee is working to restore the park to its former glory, including installing a wading pool and a new playground.
The group hosted the first-ever Mercer Community Day to raise funds for upcoming projects.
Committee members say they want to have a place where families and children can have fun.
“Hoping with people coming and enjoying what we can do here and working together as a community, that we can have those same memories for our children and future generations,” said committee member Kayla Coryea.
Fellow band member Amanda Hoban said people of all ages got involved in the projects.
“We’ve involved a lot of people with younger families, and we really want to create inclusive places for kids and families to play,” Hoban said.
The park is privately owned, which means it runs on donations and volunteers.
The Brandy Springs Revival Committee encourages volunteers to join and is always willing to accept donations.
