BCD Travel is leveraging technology from the FairFly travel data platform to power its airfare insurance offering, the travel management company announced.
FairFly has been a BCD partner since 2018, available to BCD customers through its SolutionSource marketplace, but a new expanded agreement puts FairFly technology behind a standard BCD offering, BCD Air Price Assurance, which predicts fare changes and reserves and automatically cancels tickets. when lower fares are available. The tool can offer up to 4.8% savings on a company’s total air spend, according to BCD.
“For several years, BCD customers using FairFly repurchase technology through our partner marketplace have realized substantial savings without disrupting travelers,” said Yannis Karmis, Senior Vice President of Product Planning and Development at BCD, in a press release. “We want to pass these savings on to all of our customers as a standard offering.”
The offering has “quick implementation with no integration or maintenance costs,” according to BCD.
BCD has already begun an “extensive and gradual rollout” of the U.S. offering in the current quarter. It will be available for other countries throughout this year and until 2023, BCD said.
